‘Order Well in Advance of the Big Game,’ is the Advice of Experienced Chicken Wing Purveyors

Wings Etc. encourages wing fans to order early to ensure they have the wings they need for game day

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Feb. 4, 2022)—In 2021, Americans ate a record-breaking 1.42 billion chicken wings for the Super Bowl. As chicken wings continue to be a staple of game watching, the National Chicken Council predicts another astronomical year of wing eating, and Wings Etc. is reminding guests to get their orders in early to avoid party fouls.

Historically, Super Bowl—this year on Feb. 13—is a busy day for the chicken industry, which is why Wings Etc. CEO Rob Hensmann encourages wing fans to order early to ensure their orders are met.

“Football season is always a busy time for us, and chicken, above all foods, continues to be a key part of many people’s Super Bowl plans,” said Hensmann. “We encourage people to order now, which is really a way of reserving a ‘carry-out spot,’ on our list of food orders on the day of the game. There’s a finite number of orders that can be prepared and ordering now means you’ll likely be in that number.”

Throughout the coronavirus pandemic, carry-out orders and comfort food have continued to see rising interest, which contributed significantly to the increase in chicken wing sales during Super Bowl.

In its annual report released Feb. 2, The National Chicken Council expected to see 1.42 billion wings consumed again this year during the big matchup between the Cincinnati Bengals and the Los Angeles Rams.

“There will be no wing shortage,” said National Chicken Council spokesperson Tom Super in a press release. “Like almost anything else you buy right now, wings might be a little more expensive, but they’ll be stocked. I just wouldn’t wait until kickoff to be in line or order online.”

Due to high demand during Super Bowl, Wings Etc. encourages guests to get their orders in early, since spots are limited on Feb. 13. Visit wingsetc.com/locations to find your location and reserve your spot.
