Wings Etc. Topeka lends a helping hand during the holidays

Wings Etc. Topeka holds toy drive, donates meals to those in need this holiday season

TOPEKA, Kan. (Nov. 24, 2021)—The holiday season can be a difficult time for many, especially those who struggle with homelessness or finding a way to provide a Christmas for their children. Wings Etc. Topeka franchise owners Dave and Cara Clingenpeel hope to ease the burden for local families. Now through Dec. 6, guests can bring toy donations to Wings Etc. Topeka, located at 2139 SW Fairlawn Plaza Drive in Topeka. All toys donated will help local families through the Salvation Army.

“It’s an important part of Wings Etc.’s mission to give back and support our communities,” said Dave Clingenpeel. “But it’s also important to me personally because I’ve been blessed in my life, and I feel called to give back to those in need.”

While Wings Etc. Topeka has been open for just over a year and a half, Clingenpeel said he’s been involved with toy drives for many years and wanted to continue the tradition with his own business.

The Clingenpeels and their Wings Etc. family are also donating warm meals to those in need at the Topeka Rescue Mission, which serves Topeka’s homeless population by providing shelter, food, clothing, and other necessities. The Rescue Mission serves approximately 250 meals a day to individuals in need. On Dec. 1, Wings Etc. Topeka will be donating boneless wings, mac and cheese, and coleslaw to help the Rescue Mission serve the underprivileged. Clingenpeel’s niece, owner of Dialogue Coffee House, is also donating cookies.

“There are so many in need during the holidays, and our Wings Etc. family feel an obligation to help others in the community,” said Clingenpeel. “The past two years have been a challenging time for everyone, and this is a great opportunity to ensure that no one goes hungry and that our local children still experience the wonder of Christmas through the toy drive.”

Those wishing to help Wings Etc. Topeka give back to children in the community can do so by bringing new, unwrapped toys to Wings Etc. Topeka now through Dec. 6. A toy bin has been placed in the store for the collection.

Wings Etc. Topeka is open Sunday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. (closed on Thanksgiving) and on Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 12 a.m. They are located at 2139 SW Fairlawn Plaza Drive in Topeka, Kansas.
