Wings Etc. Topeka named “Best Wings’ for 3rd straight year by Topeka Capital-Journal voters

Wings Etc. Topeka has won the Topeka Capital-Journal’s Reader’s Choice category for “Best Chicken Wings” every year since opening in 2020.

TOPEKA, Kan. (Sept. 30, 2022)—For the third consecutive year, the citizens of Topeka have chosen Wings Etc. as their favorite spot to eat chicken wings. Results of the Topeka Capital-Journal’s annual “Best of the Best” Readers’ Choice Awards were recently announced with Wings Etc. securing the top spot for “Best Chicken Wings” against some formidable contenders. Local resident and Wings Etc. Topeka owner Dave Clingenpeel explained that the award is made more exceptional by the fact that the Wings location has won every year since it opened.

“We opened in 2020 during a pandemic. It was an uncertain time, so to have won immediately after opening and to keep winning the title year after year is very special,” said Clingenpeel. “We are very thankful for this community and the support they have shown us.”

Dave and Cara Clingenpeel opened their Wings Etc. Grill & Pub in June 2020 and won their first Topeka Capital-Journal “Best Chicken Wings” award just a few months later. Dave said he believes the ongoing success and continued community support is thanks to the quality of the local restaurant’s food and service.

“We have really delicious wings with great flavors,” said Clingenpeel. “People love the crispiness and the size of the wings, and they also love our sauces, which are very unique. The sauces provide something different than what other places offer.”

Wings Etc. Topeka’s sauces are so well loved that a mix of two popular sauces—mild sauce and lime-pepper rub—earned them the title of “Twisted Wing King” in the 2021 Topeka Wing Fling last December.

Like every year, voting for the Reader’s Choice awards was open to the public. Clingenpeel noted that the votes for Wings Etc. were thanks to the Topeka community and guests who love the restaurant.

“We’re incredibly grateful for the people of Topeka who continue to show their support,” he said. “We win year after year thanks to them, and we’re honored to have earned this title for the third year in a row.”

Wings Etc. Topeka, located at 2139 SW Fairlawn Plaza Drive in Topeka, is open Sunday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. and on Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 12 a.m.
